Yafo to Hold Opportunity Summit at University of Cape Coast

Young Africans for Opportunities (YAFO) through YAFO Campus Hive, UCC in collaboration with the University of Cape Coast Business Students Association (UCCABS) is organizing its second edition of “Opportunity Summit” at the University of Cape Coast on the theme: ‘How the Youths can Leverage on Digital Opportunities in the face of rising Unemployment’. This is after a successful event in 2020 where it saw over 200 attendees. This is part of their mission to educate and connect students, young professionals, and entrepreneurs with global opportunities through free enterprise research and innovative public policy advocacy for a prosperous society.

In this year’s edition, the event’s objective is to present students and participants with digital opportunities. It promises to feature presentations from great speakers including Nana Safo, Cardano Ambassador and member of WADA Ghana, Peter Asare Nyarko, Executive Director at CLFE Africa, and Ld. Jorge Kobby, CEO Stan Inc. The trio would cover topics on Leadership for Entrepreneurs, Financial Literacy and Digital Opportunities.

Also, Nathaniel Dwamena, YAFO President and CEO, AIDBLOCK would also present on Blockchain Technology and demonstrate to participants how to create Yoroi Wallet. In all, the Opportunity Summit would help attendees (students and entrepreneurs) to understand blockchain technology and ignite decentralized entrepreneurial innovations, as well as digital fundraising and develop their digital skills for digital works opportunities

As part of preparations for the event, YAFO Campus Hive is offering free books and a dollar each to its first 50 participants which would share in the Yoroi Wallet. The 2023 Opportunity Summit has Cardano Foundation and Project Catalyst as main partners and GatewayToBlockchain, WADA, and African Institute for DeFi & Blockchain as supporting partners.

Students who participated in previous YAFO events have expressed their anticipation for this year’s edition as they have greatly benefited from the initial ones. One of them expressed the many ways he has been able to gain outstanding mentorship and connections which are still beneficial to him now.

The YAFO, Campus Hive team, and Volunteers have shared the many preparations that their team is putting in place to ensure that this year’s Opportunity is nothing short of amazing. “With the current situations happening, one will only agree that an event such as our Opportunity Summit 2023 is one that shouldn’t be missed.” Emmanuel Asare shared.

The Africa Campus Convener, Barbara Ofosu, is confident that with the efforts the team has made, no attendee will leave Opportunity Summit without a skill to build or an idea of what to do next. Joshua Larweh Tetteh, Programs Manager for YAFO also stated that this event will be an opportunity for people interested in volunteering for YAFO to do so.
