Property Right
IN FOCUS
Property rights and prosperity are interwoven. Individuals who live under a system of private property have the exclusive authority to spend their resources anyway they see appropriate. Most economists and politicians now agree that having clearly defined and well-protected property rights is important. The 1992 constitution of Ghana pursuant to Article 21 protect property from deprivation by the state. It states that “No property of any description, or interest in or right over any property shall be compulsorily taken possession of or acquired by the State…”. However, the state has relied on compulsory acquisition to erode livelihoods of citizens. YAFO is committed to advance and protect property right by ensuring that authorities are chain with the limitation and respect the protection of the constitution.
